The Altruistic Theatre Company – New York City, NY
It’s official our contenders have been chosen for our fifth theatrical deathmatch.
This event puts company against company in a late-night no-holds-barred theatrical throw-down where YOU make the call. Five separate producers will go head to head with five 10-20 minute plays, but only one will win the cash prize and your respect.
Max Schloner: “Clay Pigeons“
Josh Billig: “A New Revolution“
Axel Arth: “Insomnia“
Ron Burch: “The Last Egg“
Tarun Shanker: “The Many Universes of Elizabeth Brooks“
One of these companies will walk away with a lot of cash, you will walk away with a quality night of theatre you won’t soon forget. Doors open at 10:15pm, but come early and stay late enjoying drink specials all night at the Producer’s Club Lounge.
Bonus points given if you dress in the theme.
Thank you to all of our Altruists who came together to help us fund our upcoming show: Civilization!
With six days left and two weeks before rehearsals start, we thank you all and hope that you’ll be able to check us out when the festival starts.
Love,
The Altruistic Theatre Company
You know us: We love giving back to people. We’ve donated to charity, we give to playwrights, we help young companies. We give and we give and we give. Which as a lifestyle is admirable, but as an economic model is a bit shaky.
So now we’re in a bind. We’re producing our EPIC comedy, Civilization! in the Planet Connections Festival and we want to do it justice. But as it turns out, trees and props and stuff cost money. Now we have never lost money on a production, thanks to you our fans, but like most non-profits we count on kind hearted people like you to get by. Which is why we’ve launched a project on Kickstarter.com
We don’t need much, just a couple of bucks here and there. If our hundreds of fans just gave 3 dollars, we’d be there today. So that’s all we want. $3 to stage the greatest comedy in history. Please, right this second, put down that $5 mocha frappachino, and help us out. (I don’t know why all nonprofits assume that’s what you drink every morning, but why not). Take a look at our project and see if there isn’t something you can do to help us out.
THANKS!
The Altruistic Theatre Company Family
COME AT ME, BRO!
Altruistic’s signature late night one-act showcase is coming back for another round and we want you in on this. Five plays on any theme will go head to head for a large cash prize. After four sold out shows, we’re feeling pretty confident that this will be the single greatest thing you can do with your summer. Send in your best piece, because, let’s face it, only one of you’s walking out of there. Step up or shut up. Boom.
